If a song has two versions using different vocaloids from the same producer, can I choose either one?
If it's from the same producer, then yes, you can use either version! Things like remasters are completely fine.
Is Intern Mod still an offered position?
Intern position(s) will be offered depending on accepted mod's comfortability in guiding someone in their role's duties. We are most likely going to have them, but we would like to be able to share any limitations in place prior to application. Intern applications would open when contributor apps open, and close about two weeks before contributor apps close so accepted intern(s) can be aboard for the reviewing process. Dates will be added to the schedule once it's confirmed they will be happening.
Where do songs like mothy's evillious series fall in terms of "vocaloid representing a non-vocaloid character?" The characters look like vocaloids, but clearly are not.
The key part of that definition is "not associated with Vocaloid" -- the Evillious series fandom overlaps almost entirely with the Vocaloid one, the songs get included in Vocaloid games, etc. This is more for songs that use Vocaloid purely as an instrument and do not engage with the fandom at all. This is somewhat subjective though, so you're welcome to include your reasoning as for why a specific song should count!
What about songs that do not feature the vocaloid in the pv, but still credit the voice?
PV's will not be taken into consideration at all; They may depict any character, Vocaloid or not. The exception is songs made for/about a character from a different media: KIRA's FOCUS and Mcki Robyns-P's character fan songs will not be included as the only real representation of the songs is tied to non-Vocaloid characters.
If you have any questions about a specific song, please feel free to reach out to us!
What qualifies as a "full background" for portfolio pieces? Are pattern/abstract/collage backgrounds allowed?
We would like to see the character(s) in a setting of some kind, bonus points if they're interacting with an object or other characters. Ultimately, we would like to see some kind of story being told with the illustration. If you think your works acheive this even with an abstract background, we encourage you to include them!
Is traditional art allowed?
Yes, we will accept scanned or well photographed traditional art.
Will this include songs made in programs other than Vocaloid?
We are using Vocaloid as an umbrella term; we will accept songs using vocal synths from any program!
What is spot art?
Spot art are small illustrations made for writing! These usually depict some part of the story and are inserted among the text to enhance the story.
This definition has been added to the interest check. Apologies for the oversight!
Will English songs produced by non-English producers be accepted?
Yes, as long as the song is in English (made by anyone) or made by a Western producer (in any language), it will be allowed!
